Champion Home Health Care truly cares for our patients. We want them to have the best experience with us that they can and we want to be able to lend advice where we can. We understand that things can get misplaced and piled up when you live in a home for many years. This week we want to talk about ways you can organize your home in a way that is best for you. We want you to enjoy your time in your home. So, why not enjoy a nicely organized home while you’re at it? Read on for ways you can improve your home’s organization skills.

De-clutter

Things tend to pile up over the years. Don’t let your home become filled with stuff you will never use! Clean house! If you don’t need it, get rid of it. Donate the stuff that is still useful and nice. Maybe even think of having a garage sale to make a little extra money. Just get rid of the things you see as “stuff.” Obviously, keep anything that truly has value. We completely understand that you will want to hold onto anything that holds your life’s memories. But, try not to hold on to things like the roller-skates from 20 years ago that have never been used. We promise they are not needed. De-clutter your life, de-clutter your mind. You will feel so much better for it.

Storage bins are your friend

If you have a lot of things you want to keep, then it is important to utilize storage bins or containers. Find places that you can easily store everything. Make sure you keep everything in a temperature-controlled room so that way nothing gets damaged. Also, make sure everything is sealed tightly to keep any little critters from ruining your belongings. Make sure that you write down where you have placed everything throughout your house, should you ever need something in a timely manner.

Have an assigned place for everything

There is no shame in being overly organized. Having a place for everything puts the mind at ease. Anything that isn’t considered storage should have a specific home where it lives. Do yourself a favor and assign it a home, then continue to put it back there every time whenever it is gets used. This will also make it easier for any caregivers or family members to find things for you should they need to.
